Job Description
The City of Kettering Ohio is recruiting to fill Regular Part-Time Assistant Crew Leader positions. This position assists in the daily operation and maintenance of the parks and other City facilities and performs routine tasks with Parks Service Workers. Under the supervision of a Parks Manager this position assists Parks Service Workers in parks maintenance operation including at times serving as a crew leader of seasonal groundskeepers. This position performs other duties including push mowing weeding litter clean-up ball fields tree trimming/removal painting restroom maintenance minor equipment maintenance; operates one or more of the following: chainsaws push mower riding mower pick-up truck with/without trailer dump truck paint striper tractor front end loader forklift string trimmer hand sprayer and other small equipment. REQUIREMENTS: Ability to operate a variety of motorized equipment. Previous grounds keeping experience highly desirable with leadership/supervision a plus. Must show initiative logical thought process interest in work and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to perform all types of outdoor physical labor in all types of weather. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers and possess a positive attitude. Reflect a positive image of the City of Kettering at all times. Possess a valid Ohio Driver's License and have a good driving record. Must be at least 18 years old before starting to work. Must be flexible during various seasons to assist with snow/ice removal and/or event setup/cleanup. Schedule may include working evenings and weekends. Follows current dress code and other work rules. Must report for work on time be ready for work at assigned scheduled hours and perform assigned jobs in a safe efficient and responsible manner. COMPENSATION: The pay range for an Assistant Parks Crew Leader I position is $14.43/hr to $17.06/hr; Assistant Parks Crew Leader II $15.53/hr to $18.07/hr; Assistant Parks Crew Leader III $16.62hr to $19.19/hr. Position and entry rate of pay is contingent upon candidate's related skills education knowledge and abilities. Benefits include prorated sick leave vacation leave and holiday pay.
