Job Description
Under the direction of the Tourism Director supports event preparation and execution. Event prep work will be done both indoors and outdoors. Flexibility in schedule is essential as tourism staff will be required to work events scheduled after regular business hours and/or during weekends. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and during event execution may have to climb ladders as needed hang banners and stand for extended periods of time.MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma with no minimum experience required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS Required
Physical Requirements:
Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Dexterity: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
- Handling: Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand.
- Visual ability: sufficient to effectively operate office equipment including copier, computer, etc.; and to read and write reports, correspondence, instructions, etc.
- Hearing ability: sufficient to hold a conversation with other individuals both in person and over a telephone; and to hear recording on transcription device.
- Speaking ability: sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and over the telephone.
- Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE; SKILLS; AND ABILITIES:
Ability to organize; prioritize and multi-task. Must interpret and apply both written and oral instructions. General office skills to include typing and accounting functions. Excellent English grammar; spelling and punctuation. Must be proficient with MS Excel; Word and Publishing. Must be precise in numerical calculations and record preparation. Must be punctual and organized to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with city staff and the public
Additional Information
May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace.
