Job Description
Under supervision operates various pumps and motors; responsible for controlling mechanical electrical and chemical equipment in the pumping or treatment of wastewater the reading and recording of meter readings to determine process requirements. Individual in this position is assigned on-call duties and subject to call-out.
Essential Job Functions
Essential job function: Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater; sludge; and effluents. Responsible for the operation; routine servicing and care of various wastewater treatment plant equipment. Monitors and reports on water flows and systems. Operates valves and gates; starts and stops pumps; motors and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment process. Performs routine lab and field tests. Provides preventive and scheduled maintenance to ultra-violet lights. Operates chemical feed equipment. Keeps written records. Assists Plant Helpers in cleaning troughs; shoveling sand to drying beds and mowing grass. Performs other duties as assigned.
Training Experience; and/or Other Requirements
Ability to obtain Class “D” level wastewater certification from TCEQ within one (1) year of employment. Must obtain a Class “C” wastewater certification; as mandated by TCEQ; within 2 years of employment and maintain certification to remain in position. Two years’ experience in a wastewater related field or two years’ experience with pumps; motors; electrical equipment or experience at a processing plant.

The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a pre-employment physical examination drug screen and background investigation.
