What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Services Information & Resource Specialist position at City of Kinston?
Performs intermediate skilled technical work in the maintenance and preparation of financial records and systems and performs a variety of public affairs duties for Public Services, and related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Operations Manager.

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.Performs departmental general and budgetary accounting activities; assists with annual departmental budget preparation; tracks and prepares revenue forecasts for enterprise funds.
Assists in the review of revenue and appropriation ledgers, balance sheets and subsidiary ledgers. Prepares data statements for internal use and assists with preparation of annual reports.
Assistsotherdepartmentdivisionswithaccountingrelatedquestionsandprocedures.
Assists with rates studies; applies for grants and maintains related documentation through duration of grant.
Assembles statistical and accounting data on requests; adjusts, closes and balances accounts; prepares various reports and financial statements.
Assistswithcreationandimplementationofbillinsertsandotherinformativeandeducationalpublications. Manages department website and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
Provides support to managers on customer service inquires and issues.
Develops and maintains spreadsheets and databases in support of a variety of Public Services program evaluations,
Responsible for event planning such as Job Fairs, Educational/CTE programs, community outreach programs, etc.General knowledge of the theory, principles, methods and practices of accounting; some knowledge of the laws, ordinances and regulations governing municipal financial matters; general knowledge of modern office methods, practicesandequipment;generalknowledgeofpersonalcomputersandrelatedsoftware;abilitytopreparefinancial reports and records; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats; ability to plan and set priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in in accounting, or related field and considerable experience in accountinginthepublicorprivatesectorandextensiveexperiencewithapplicablesoftwarepackages or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 1 year experience preferred.
Possession of an appropriate valid North Carolina drivers’ license.This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work regularly requires sitting and occasionally requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger ,handle or feel and repetitive motions; work has no special vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office with typewriters and/or computer printers, light traffic).
Salary : $42,536 - $59,134
