What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Camp Leader position at City of Kirkland?

Summary
Supervise children ages 6-12 in a variety of summer day camp activities.
Essential Duties:
- Lead activities in sports, games, arts & Crafts and field trips.
- Maintain a safe and stimulating day camp environment.
- Enforce rules and promote safe and appropriate behavior.
Peripheral Duties:
- Assist in planning activities.
Peter Kirk Camp – The City of Kirkland’s Peter Kirk Camp program is located at the Peter Kirk Community Center, 352 Kirkland Ave.
Junior Camp- The City of Kirkland’s Junior Camp program is located at the North Kirkland Community Center, 12421 103rd Ave NE.

Hours of Work:
The Peter Kirk and Junior Camp’s will operates Monday through Friday, June 23-August 22, 2025 from 8am-6pm (no shifts will be longer than 8 hours.
- Good communication skills are required.
- Ability to interact courteously with the public.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving.
- Demonstrates sports, games and craft activities. Accompany children on walks and public transit outings. Administer First Aid/CPR if needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicant must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification prior to position start date.
- Applicant must successfully complete a thorough national background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
- Applicant must be at least 16 years or older at time of application.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-year of experience working with children in a camp like setting.
Working Conditions & Physical Activities:
Performs work in indoor and outdoor settings including community center facilities, parks, playgrounds, beaches, pool, and commercial recreation sites. Exposure to extended periods of direct sunlight and/or cool and damp weather is possible.
