What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parking Control Attendant position at City of Kirkwood?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The work of the parking control attendant involves responsibility for the general enforcement of parking regulations in the Downtown Special Business District (SBD) and throughout the city as directed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs general enforcement of parking regulations in the Kirkwood Downtown Special Business District (SBD) and as directed.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for businesses in the SBD and works independently and in partnership with the SBD office to resolve parking related issues.
- Promotes a positive relationship between the Police department, the general public, and SBD merchants.
- Maintains computer enforcement records.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
- Considerable knowledge of City and state laws regarding parking violations.
- Must be able to obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance to access criminal justice data.
- Must be able to make decisions and exercise good judgment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Comprehend verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to use two-way radios.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At time of hire, must be 21 years of age.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Inclement weather, including extreme heat/cold, rain, snow, wind, etc. Hazards associated with driving, traffic control, and working in and around traffic. Position requires walking as part of daily enforcement duties. Expected to work approximately 24 hours per week, with varying work schedule including hours between 8am and 7pm. Hours per week may vary depending on the needs of the City.
