HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Be responsible for providing public relations, and clerical services including issuing permits and collecting fees for permits and licenses, answering routine building and housing code questions from the general public, and the scheduling of inspections. you would provide support for Building Commissioner, Plans Examiner, Planning staff, Inspection staff and office operations. Issue permits and collects fees within limits of authority and in compliance with City and department policies. Type correspondence including inspection reports and letters from drafts to property owners and contractors informing them of code requirements or violations. Make decisions within limits of authority and in compliance with City codes and departmental polices and supervisory instruction regarding appropriate action. Sort, cross-index and accurately file all departmental records according to numerical or other acceptable organization methods. Answer phones, respond accurately and courteously with everyone including the public. Prepare a monthly department reports utilizing a variety of programs including data bases and excel. Operate a variety of office equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, etc. using appropriate software. Provide support for the various boards and commissions as necessary. Prepare reports and responds to routine requests for information in a timely fashion. Ensure all records and correspondence is properly filed. OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
At least two years of experience in general office work. Construction or code enforcement background desirable. Some knowledge of construction practices, building permit processing, and code enforcement procedures required. Must be able to learn and use a variety of computer applications. Possess basic skill with Microsoft Office software including work and excel. Must be able to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail and frequent interruptions. As well as to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information received and provide courteous, accurate and timely information to the public.
