What you will be doing:
You will be responsible to do repair, to maintain, and test water mains, valves, and fire hydrants. You will perform excavations and backfills and install temporary pavement repairs. Locate water mains, service lines, and valves using pipeline location instruments and metal detectors. You'll be responsible for operating various heavy equipment and assisting with maintenance of pump station equipment and water meters. Landscaping and restoring lawns to original condition. You may encounter hazards from working in extreme weather conditions as well as exposure to hot material, hazardous material, dust and other allergens. A typical day in our water department starts at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m., however you must be available and willing to work significant amounts of unscheduled and scheduled overtime when necessary. We offer sleep time, meal times and drive time when unscheduled overtime is required. We offer growth opportunities and fully funded training for those who are interested in advancing their path.
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), preferred. Knowledge of the materials and experience with methods and equipment used in repair and replacement of water mains, valves and fire hydrants. Is able to operate a variety of heavy machinery and equipment used in the repair and replacement of water mains, valves, and fire hydrants. Is able to use GIS mapping tools and carry out oral and written instructions. Able to enter and exit excavations safely by use of a ladder. Performs duties with a high degree of safety in the work place, and complies with all City and department safety policies and requirements. The availability and willingness to work unscheduled and scheduled overtime when necessary.
