Lifeguards Needed!!
Promote the safety and well-being of guests utilizing the pool facilities in accordance with established guest service and sustainability standards.
Under frequent supervision, provide effective and skillful lifeguarding services for the Bob Makinson Aquatic Center, and assist in maintaining BMAC facilities and pools.
Nights & weekends as required, no set schedule. Reports to the Recreation & Leisure Services Coordinator – Aquatics and/or Head Lifeguard.
Must be at least fifteen (15) years of age.
Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications. Must possess or have the ability to obtain within 1 month of hire; Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License or Florida ID. Requires a junior high school diploma supplemented by a combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High School graduate preferred.
Schedule: Hours and schedule varies depending on the time of the year, not to exceed on average of 28 hours per week. Nights, weekends and early mornings may be required.
Essential Functions:
Inspects the pool area, grounds, facilities and equipment for safety and proper condition.
Monitors the activities and behavior of pool guests; ensures compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Rescues swimmers in danger, and performs CPR and provides First Aid as necessary.
Prepares accident/incident reports as required.
Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints of citizens regarding BMAC programs and policies.
Operates a variety of pool equipment, including pool vacuums, pumps, and controller. Uses oxygen tank and various CPR/AED/First Aid/First Responder equipment. Performs general pool and facility maintenance tasks. Cleans the pool and maintains water quality; conducts chemical/water tests and system checks; regulates flow of chemicals. Cleans the pool deck, slides, windows, etc.; removes trash and debris. Performs general custodial and grounds maintenance tasks as necessary.
Performs general administrative/office duties as required; including attending meetings, assisting customers, answering the telephone, entering computer data, copying, and filling documents, faxing information, etc. Conducts registration for programs or reservations for the facility as well as collects fees and maintains records of moneys received; Rec Trac, as needed.
Operates grounds/facility maintenance equipment, including blowers, hedge trimmers, pressure washer, edgers, sanders, etc. Uses various hand and power tools. Exercises care and safety in the use and maintenance of assigned equipment and tools.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, instructors, guests (children, parents, adults), school personnel, Ellis & Associate Personnel, volunteers, and the general public.
Performs related duties as required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate pool maintenance equipment, hand and power tools, etc. Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort, typically involving some combination of remaining on feet for extended periods of time, climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds to moderately heavy weight (up to 50 pounds).
