">The City of Kodiak is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join their team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from individuals in custody at the Kodiak Community Jail or other secure locations.
">This temporary position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a post-secondary accredited phlebotomy program. Additionally, three to five years of related phlebotomy experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
">You will need to possess professional certification in phlebotomy from a recognized program and have knowledge of principles, techniques, and procedures in the area of phlebotomy.
">Key Responsibilities:
">- Explaining blood draw procedures to individuals in custody
- Preparing individuals before drawing blood
- FOLLOWING PROPER INFECTION CONTROL PROCEDURES BEFORE DRAWING BLOOD
- Observing adherence to rules and regulations mandated by OSHA
- Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas
- Gathering medical testing materials
- Drawing blood and applying bandages after blood is drawn
- Verifying individual's information and labeling blood samples properly
- Properly disposing of contaminated supplies
- Submitting properly labeled blood samples to the Police Officer
