General Statement
Under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Manager, Recreation Coordinator, and Assistant Camp Director, the incumbent will supervise and assist with the on-site delivery of the Day Camp program in an elementary or middle school setting, using proper management techniques. The employee will work with staff to provide a safe environment for children and encourage good health and safety practices; comply with all required policies, procedures, and regulations; and provide children with a variety of enriching experiences, with a good balance between free choice and planned curriculum activities, including indoor and outdoor play, sports and games, arts and crafts, field trips and more.
Kyle 2025 Summer Camp will be a 9-week camp from May 27th until August 1st, 2025, Monday - Friday 7 : 30 am - 5 : 45 pm. The camp allows the ages of entering 1st grade to entering 9th grade. The Kyle Camp is an indoor and outdoor camp filled with tons of impressive active activities, water games, and crafts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Assistant Camp Director / Recreation Coordinator in planning, coordinating and supervising programs and activities for the Day Camp Program, ensuring counselors have needed materials, equipment and understanding of instructions.
- Proper implementation of safety protocol and procedures always including but not limited to all City of Kyle Facilities and off-site field trips.
- Must be able to get into a pool to supervise and monitor campers and camp staff at least 2 times a week.
- Ensure that Counselors are following schedules and completing planned activities.
- Assist with staff coordination and supervision in the absence of Recreation Coordinator and Assistant Camp Director.
- Provide directions for camp counselors and ensure compliance with required policies, procedures and regulations, and report noncompliance to supervisor.
- Attend and assist in facilitating all required meetings, training, and in-services brought forth by the Recreation Manager & Recreation Coordinator.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relations among everyone involved in the Camp program including children, parents, Recreation Coordinator, Assistant Camp Director, and other camp counselors.
- Be available for camp counselors in times of emergencies.
- Always oversee the enforcement of camp rules & regulations.
- Proper documentation and reporting of issues to supervisors.
- Assist counselors in dealing with behavioral issues and group management.
- Ensure counselors maintain a proper counselor to camper ratio.
- Perform all other duties as duly assigned by the Recreation Manager, Recreation Coordinator, and Assistant Camp Director.

An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of himself / herself or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
