General Statement
Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, Recreation Coordinator, Assistant Camp Director and Camp Head Counselor, the incumbent will supervise a group of school age children in a Day Camp program using good management techniques. Provide a safe environment for children and encourage good health and safety practices. Comply with all required policies, procedures, and regulations. Provide children with a variety of enriching experiences, with a good balance between free choice and planned curriculum activities : indoor and outdoor play, sports and games, arts and crafts, field trips and more.
Kyle 2025 Summer Camp will be a 9-week camp from May 27th until August 1st, 2025, Monday - Friday 7 : 30 am - 5 : 45 pm. The camp allows the ages of entering 1st grade to entering 9th grade. The Kyle Camp is an indoor and outdoor camp filled with tons of impressive active activities, water games, and crafts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement programs and activities for the Day Camp, under the supervision of the Head Counselor, Assistant Camp Director, or Recreation Coordinator.
- Always implement safety protocol and procedures including but not limited to all City of Kyle facilities and off-site field trips.
- Must be able to get into a pool to supervisor and monitor campers at least 2 times a week.
- Attend all required training, meetings, and in-services scheduled by the Recreation Manager & Recreation Coordinator throughout the season.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relations among everyone involved in the Camp program including children, parents, Recreation Coordinator, Assistant Camp Director, and other camp counselors.
- Be available for fellow camp counselors in times of emergencies.
- Oversee the enforcement of camp rules & regulations, proper documentation, and reporting issues to supervisors.
- Follow the daily and weekly schedule of activities for the camp.
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday with some weekend training required; Must be able to work a full day schedule : 6 : 15 am - 6 : 00 pm.
- Participate in all scheduled activities including, but not limited to swimming, gym games, and outdoor activities.
- Kyle Summer Camp must be able to work the scheduled hours of 6 : 15 am - 6 : 00 pm. Must be able to work Monday-Friday with some weekend training required.
- Perform all other duties as duly assigned by the Recreation Manager, Recreation Coordinator, and Assistant Camp Director.

This job requires the individual to frequently work outdoors and indoors in a variety of environmental conditions, including elevated temperatures, humidity, moisture, and distracting noises. An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of himself / herself or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
