What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry?
The La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry is seeking energetic, hands on individuals who are interested in joining our Aquatics staff to fill the seasonal positions of Lifeguards. The Lifeguard position is responsible for the safety of patrons at the pools by preventing accidents through knowledge and enforcement of site rules.
Responsibilities:
- Respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations
- Perform all skills required for certifications
- Able to enforce the policies outlined in the Aquatics Manual with the public
- Able to meet rigid schedule throughout entirety of summer
- Arrive early or on time for shift every day
- Able to follow the staff policies outlined in the Aquatics Manual
- Handles self professionally and responsibly with public, peers, and supervisors
- Maintain a high standard of customer service
- Work well under high stress
- Attend mandatory meetings and trainings as scheduled
- Willing and able to work at all pool locations, if needed
- Have a positive attitude at work and come with creative ideas for problem solving
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of the facility
- Instruct a series of swim lessons and evaluate participants
Qualifications:
- Lifeguard certified or willing to become Lifeguard certified
- CPR/AED/First Aid certified or willing to become CPR/First Aid certified
- Must be 15 years or older
- *Certification courses available to City of La Crosse employees or new hires at NO COST*
Details:
- Part-time or full-time positions at all three pools including Erickson Pool, North Side Community Pool and Veterans Memorial Pool
- There are no benefits associated with limited-term positions.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
