What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Laborers position at City of La Crosse?
The City of La Crosse is seeking to hire part-time summer laborers in the Wastewater Department. It is the responsibility of the Wastewater Department to protect public health and the environment by providing regional wastewater treatment services. These temporary positions will work approximately 40 hours per week with standard hours of Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Starting wage is $20.00 per hour. Positions to start 5/1/2025 and may work through the end of the year if available. Positions are limited term and do not acquire benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Clean catch basins/sewer collection system
· Open manholes/light construction work
· GIS stormwater work
· Assist with projects & other day to day work
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required
Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
· Ability to walk/stand majority of the day
· Ability to flip a manhole cover
· Ability to communicate effectively with department personnel and general public
· Ability to exert physically demanding work, typically involving a combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling
· Motivated, responsible, and have excellent time management skills
