Under general supervision, provides support to the Community Services Department in a variety of programs, projects, and functions and may provide direction to staff and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications
Must possess excellent customer service skills.
Knowledge of : Methods, practices, and equipment used in maintaining an effective recreational program. CPR, AED, and First Aid safety practices. English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and composition.
Ability to : Organize, assign, and supervise children, adults, and seniors in a recreational program. Organize and conduct recreational activities. Communicate clearly and concisely with program participants, the public, and staff. Utilize Windows based software. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, community groups, staff, and other agencies. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION :
Must be at least 18 years of age and have graduated from high school or the equivalent. One year of recreation, education or related experience is required.Completed college level coursework in Recreation, Education, Physical Education or related field is desirable.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE :
Possession of a valid California Driver License is required.
Possession of CPR, AED, and First Aid certificates are required within the two months of employment. Certification will be provided by the City.
Supplemental Information
Position requires availability to work varying shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates with open availability will be given preference when hiring.
Applicants selected to be hired are required to attend orientation and / or training on the following dates. Attendance is mandatory.
