This position ensures the safety of guests in the aquatic area while on duty. Must be a minimum of fifteen (15) years of age to apply.

- You will be required to work both indoors and outdoors with the option to work indoors, only if preferred.

The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:
- Continuously scan pools for patrons in distress.
- Enforce all rules and policies, clean and maintain facility.
- Perform rescues and administer First Aid according to standards as needed.
- Respond quickly to emergencies.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Act as problem solver.
- Enforce all City policies, pool rules, and regulations involving the operation of the pool.
- Set a good example for all aquatic employees in conduct, dress and manners.
- Conduct routine safety checks of equipment and staff.
- Ensure all paperwork, i.e., course records, accident reports, etc., are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Attend and participate in scheduled meetings and bi-monthly in-service trainings as required.
- Perform related work as required and assigned by Head Lifeguard, Pool Manager, and Aquatics Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE: American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid; knowledge of departmental rules concerning the area in which assigned; and of Lifeguard philosophies, policies and procedures; teaching methods and techniques.
SKILL: Demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.
ABILITY: Prevent accidents; deal tactfully with the public, sufficient strength to make rescues; stand for extended time periods; work in loud, stressful environment; remain calm in emergency situations.
TRAINING: American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard and First Aid, and CPR/AED required.
EXPERIENCE: Previous aquatics experience, pool maintenance and swim instruction preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.Must be a minimum of fifteen (15) years of age to apply.
May be restricted to age requirements as specified by FLSA:
- On school days, during school hours, no minor under the age of sixteen shall be permitted employment except as provided by a school release permit. After school hours, no minor under the age of fifteen is permitted to work in excess of six hours unless the next day is not a school day and also not permitted to work between the hours of 9:30 pm and 5:00 am.
- Minors from fifteen to eighteen cannot work more than eight hours in any twenty-four-hour period May be restricted to age requirements as specified by FLSA:
- On school days, during school hours, no minor under the age of fifteen shall be permitted employment except as provided by a school release permit.
