Aquatic Assistant Manager
LOCATION:
Tropicanoe Cove, Castway Bay, Vinton Pool (depending upon assignment)
HOURS:
Seasonal – 40 hours/week. Includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
SALARY:
$16.75-$18.75/hour
DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent serves as Aquatic Assistant Manager and is responsible for the assisting with overall daily operation and
supervision of Lafayette Parks aquatic facilities. Supervises and directs assigned personnel, including interviewing
applicants, hiring maintaining adequate staffing levels, delegating work assignments, approving work schedules, providing
regular in-service training, evaluating performance, resolving problems and terminating as needed. Supervises the
operation of Parks Aquatic facilities according to state and local codes, including posting current health/safety procedures,
inspecting/monitoring maintenance, cleaning/sanitation, and care of pool facilities and grounds. Plans/prepares/conducts
in-service training activities, conducts weekly drills, and maintains related records. Ensures all personnel maintain current
certification/licenses as required. All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
21 years of age preferred. Certification in, or ability to obtain certification in American Red Cross head lifeguard training,
waterpark training, community first aid and safety, CPR for the professional rescuer. Lifeguard and CPR for the Professional
Rescuer instructor certifications preferred. Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred. Ability to regularly work extended,
weekend and/or evening hours. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers and swimming pool
patrons, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. Ability to competently
serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including encounters with irate/hostile persons. Ability to work alone and with
others in a team environment, and maintain appropriate, respectful inter-relationships with co-workers. Ability to work on
several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent
distractions and interruptions.
