Description
The Youth Field Hockey Coordinator is responsible for developing and instructing young athletes in the sport of field hockey. This role focuses on teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, and fostering a love for the game in a supportive and positive environment.
Working Conditions :
This role may involve evening and weekend work to accommodate practice and game schedules.
Outdoor work, sometimes in various weather conditions.
Examples of Duties
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and implement age-appropriate field hockey training programs, including skill development, game strategies, and fitness conditioning.
Plan and conduct regular team practices, ensuring that each player receives individualized coaching and feedback.
Teach and reinforce the rules and etiquette of field hockey, emphasizing sportsmanship and fair play.
Create a safe, fun, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation and skill development for players of all levels.
Organize and manage team schedules for practices, games, and tournaments.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and guardians regarding team schedules, expectations, and player progress.
Evaluate players' performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Supervise assistant coaches and volunteers, if applicable.
Maintain and inventory team equipment, ensuring proper care and reporting any maintenance or replacement needs.
Qualifications
Previous coaching experience in field hockey, especially with youth or beginner players.
Sound knowledge of field hockey rules, techniques, and strategies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with young athletes and their families.
Enthusiasm for teaching and motivating young players, helping them develop their skills and passion for the sport.
First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Background check may be required.
