The Position
GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION: The City of Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Department is seeking Fitness Attendants. The ideal candidate is reliable, task-oriented and values punctuality.
Fitness Attendants focus on the Fitness Center’s cleaning and organizational needs, as well as take feedback and notes from members. Attendants also act as a groundkeeper for other areas of the LORAC, and help set up programming and classes.

Key Responsibilities
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Log all cleaning and organizational tasks daily
- Be a positive presence in the Fitness Center and all areas of the LORAC
- Enforce safety rules to all patrons
- Support the Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors by helping setup/breakdown classes
- Communicate incident/injury reports to supervisor
- Orientations for members to the weight room
- General fitness knowledge preferred
Education and Experience Requirements
Successful candidates will have:
- CPR/AED Certification (can obtain upon hire)
- Detail oriented and committed to customer service
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to be on time to all shifts
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is six months experience in general maintenance work, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above described duties. Candidates must possess an Oregon Driver’s License and working cell phone.
Other Requirements:
- Read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations and follow written and oral instructions.
- Safely operate hand and power tools.
- Perform heavy manual labor in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
- Bend, stoop or kneel for extended period of time.
- Maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
