What are the responsibilities and job description for the College Intern - Information Technology position at City of Lakeland, Civil Service?
This internship is with one of the subgroups within the IT Department located in downtown Lakeland, FL. Interns will work a maximum of 29 hours a week.
- Assist Public Safety IT team with miscellaneous software
- Assist Public Safety IT team with specialized hardware tasks
Application Development
- Assist in configuration and support of enterprise applications.
Security
- Review security logs and remediate vulnerabilities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform related work as required
Enrollment as a Senior in an accredited college or university in a major relating to Computer Science or Information Technology

Required: All potential hires will need to pass the LPD CJIS Background Check
- Basic computer hardware knowledge
- Knowledge of basic applications and software development principles
- Skill in the use of personal computers and standard office equipment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites
- Ability to promptly and effectively complete tasks
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other City employees and the general public
- Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, and to request clarification when needed
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:
- Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis, routine keyboard operations
- The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards
- The job requires normal visual acuity, and field of vision, hearing and speaking
