This is skilled and semi-skilled work in repairing and maintaining buildings, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment. It involves the responsibility for miscellaneous and building maintenance work, the operation of facility energy control, mechanical, lighting, and ice equipment, and tasks associated with event activity at the RP Funding Center. Work is performed without close supervision; however, progress is reviewed during progress and completion.

This is a Part-Time Temporary position.

- Makes miscellaneous minor repairs and adjustments on all building-related equipment, fixtures, and equipment for events, including chairs. All items from roof to ground are included in the building.
- Performs preventive maintenance to HVAC systems.
- Changes ballasts and transformers in light fixtures.
- Installs and makes repairs to electrical circuits.
- Initiates general repairs to plumbing systems.
- Repairs small engines involves fabricating metal items, stick and wire welding, soldering, riveting, and other fastener installations.
- Operates lighting, HVAC, boilers, office equipment, shelter repairs.
- Conducts preventative maintenance, carpentry work, and operates various power tools.
- Repairs wall surfaces, spackling, sanding, primer applications, paint topcoat, assure paint matching, and quality work.
- Operates lift equipment, forklifts, and scissor lifts, but not limited to these.
- Assists in Event activities as needed.
- May be required to participate and/or facilitate training to support departmental or City initiatives and requirements.
- Able to work weekends and alternate hours to ensure efficient department requirements.
- May be required to work overtime, or alternate hours, as necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
- Position is designated as Mission Critical.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs related work as required.
- High school diploma from an accredited school or GED.
- Two years of experience in building trades or building maintenance and operations of a facility system.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have and maintain a valid telephone number.
- Electrical experience preferred.
- Ability to use maintenance equipment and tools and be aware of hazards.
- Ability to work safely and as a team.
- Ability to work on ladders, scaffolds, and power lifts.
- Ability to work from sketches and oral and written instructions.
- Skill and ability to keep routine records and reports.
- Basic computer knowledge and operation.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Medium to some large amounts of walking, standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, lifting 50 lbs. routinely, up to 100 lbs. of force.
- Ability to move quickly, fingers, hands, or limbs involving tasks and those needed performances.
- The job risks exposure to bright light, dust, pollen, extreme heat or cold, humidity, high noise levels, animals/wildlife, fumes, odors, and moving traffic.
- Must have normal visual, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception, and texture perception.
