Typical examples include: Finance Manager: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in public accounting, budgeting, and/or municipal financial management. Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field.Finance Director: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in public accounting, public budgeting, or municipal finance, including three years of management and administrative responsibility. A master’s degree in public administration and/or a CPA designation is highly desirable.The PositionThe Finance Manager/Director is a vital member of the City’s leadership team, reporting directly to the City Manager. This role oversees all aspects of the City’s financial operations, including budget development, financial reporting, cash management, payroll, and utility billing. The position manages a talented team of four full-time staff, including the Government Accountant, ensuring the department operates efficiently and aligns with the City’s strategic goals. The City does not participate in social security.Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance: The City provides health, dental and vision insurance for the employee and dependents. Employee pay a percentage of the medical premium, while the City covers the full cost of the employee and dependents for vision and dental.Vacation Leave: Paid vacation for management classifications is generally 15 days (120 hours) annually for the first 5 years and increasing up to 200 hours based on time in service.Holidays: There are 14 paid holidays per year.Sick Leave: Sick leave is accumulated at the rate of 1 working day per month.Other Benefits: The City provides an employee assistance program; life insurance based upon one year’s annual salary ($100,000 maximum coverage); long-term disability insurance.
