PAY RATE: $16.00/hour
Job Summary
Responsible for the operation of the recreation facility’s registration and admission functions in a professional manner consistent with the Division’s mission statement and core values.
The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position. A variable employee is an at-will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity. Their work schedule is based on business need. This position would be a part-time non benefitted position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City’s discretion. Employees must be able to perform the essential duties of this job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Greets visitors to the indoor/outdoor facility and assists patrons as necessary.
- Answers the telephone, directs calls, provides information, and records messages as needed.
- Provides information on classes and programs offered by our Department; keeps informed of the many changes and modifications of our programming offerings and schedules.
- Inputs patrons’ membership and registration information into the recreation software.
- Responsible for cash handling and processing payments; compiles a daily cash report worksheet and prepares bank deposit slips as required by shift.
- Assists in checking and restocking consumable and cleaning supplies.
- Enforces facility rules and policies as necessary.
- Stays informed of emergency procedures and assists in implementation.
- Upholds Division mission statement and core values in every aspect of work.
- May seasonally work as an outdoor pool cashier.
Reporting Relationships
Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from the Facility Coordinator and supplementary direction form the Facility Specialist.
Supervision Exercised: N/A
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to deal effectively with participants and the public in a positive way and provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
- Ability to work with constant interruptions.
- Ability to work independently, as well as a team member.
- Ability to work with diverse age groups and populations.
- Background check required.
Technological Skills
- Experience with recreation software programs preferred.
- Ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite to include, Outlook, Word and Excel.
Education and Experience
- Education: Some high school.
- Experience: Experience working with the public or in a customer service capacity preferred.
Certification/Licenses/Specialized Training
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or ability to obtain within first six months.
Pay Range
Background and reference checks will be conducted for all regular and some variable/seasonal positions.
