Position: Maintenance Assistant
Department: Public Works - Maintenance Yard
Hourly Range: $18.13 - $20.99
Classification: Temporary
Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible
General Summary:
This is a Temporary position that works in the city’s right-of way and facilities under general supervision.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Traffic sign and marking maintenance and installation.
- Concrete maintenance and installation.
- Asphalt maintenance and installation.
- Recycled items collection and storage.
- Graffiti removal.
- Weed abatement.
- Waste removal.
- Building and grounds maintenance.
- Building Janitorial Duties.
- Small equipment operations.
- Operation of forklift.
- Collection and handling of anti-freeze, batteries, oil, and paint (ABOP).
- Landscape Maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Good communication skills
- Time management
- Provide excellent customer service to citizens and staff.
- Mechanical and organizational skills
- Current valid driver’s license
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
- Currently enrolled in a college, university, or trade school highly desirable
- Certifications in Traffic Control Management, Concrete, Asphalt, Signs and Markings, HVAC, or Pesticide Applicators highly desirable
