Job Summary:
This position would fall under the PARCS department; specifically, the Community Services division. The Community Services division offers relative programming for all ages in the community by connecting residents with programming, activities, resources, and community events. Under general supervision, plans organizes, leads, and conducts a program of recreational activities at a park, community center, large facility, or specialized program. Plans and conducts activities in areas such as homework help, crafts, games, arts, sports, music, drama, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and the Arts). This position also requires a commitment to working on special events.

Example of Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in conducting activities in community or other voluntary recreation facilities.
- Assist students at after-school programs with homework, games, activities, music, sports, crafts, drama, and snack times; develop and direct weekly lesson plans and activities.
- Provide minor first aid to program participants/spectators and/or perform related first aid/ emergency techniques.
- Adhere to and enforce safety rules and regulations and maintain orderly participant conduct at various events.
- Practice the highest level of customer service with both internal and external clients.
- Practice effective communication and professionalism with patrons, children, co-workers, school personnel, and supervisors.
- Monitor children during outdoor activities in the after-school program setting and/ or during day camp.
- Open and close facilities as scheduled for use; secure the facility upon leaving.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work area/facility and ensure that permit areas are safe, clean, and functional; notify public safety and/or law enforcement as to any irregularities when appropriate.
- Facilitate coordinator/ supervisor in the set-up and tear down of city-organized events & programs.
- Participate in required scheduled trainings throughout the year.
- Employee flexibility and adaptability in the work environment.

- Prior experience in a childcare or related setting is desirable.
