General Summary: Under general supervision, the TeamUp Lancaster Special Events Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and execution of community-driven events and activities focused on environmental sustainability, civic engagement, and public beautification. This role is responsible for assisting in event logistics from initial planning to post-event clean-up, ensuring smooth operations and meaningful community participation. This role offers an opportunity to make a direct impact on the TeamUp Lancaster initiative by fostering community involvement and supporting events that enhance the City's environmental and civic engagement efforts.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of TeamUp Lancaster events, such as community clean-ups, tree plantings, mural projects, volunteer appreciation events, educational workshops, and Earth Month activities.
- Coordinate event logistics, including securing locations, supplies, permits, and necessary approvals.
- Support outreach efforts to recruit volunteers, community partners, and sponsors.
- Assist in promoting events through various channels, including social media, newsletters, flyers, and press releases.
- Help design and edit promotional materials in collaboration with internal teams or external vendors.
- Serve as a liaison between City departments, community groups, and local businesses to enhance event participation and support.
- Track event-related expenses, manage supply inventories, and support budget planning.
- Ensure events comply with City regulations and sustainability goals.
- Engage with volunteers and community members, providing direction and fostering a positive event experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in event coordination, volunteer management, or community engagement preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of public relations, marketing, and social media outreach techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including City staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and community-based programs is a plus.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must have a valid California driver's license.

- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university in a related field (e.g., Public Administration, Environmental Studies, Communications, or Event Planning) is desirable.
