The City of Lansing is seeking full-time Wastewater Maintenance Workers in one of the largest wastewater facilities in Michigan. This is a great opportunity for individuals to apply their knowledge and skillset to the maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment plant, pump stations (electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment), and lawn, grounds, and landscaping tasks. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING: Â Â Â Â
- Class I Journey Level, Electrician's Michigan License.Â
- Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license and DOT medical card within 90 days from date of hire or will be terminated.
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum (5) year period of practical experience under licensed electrician and pass the Michigan state exam.Â
- Performs wide range of electrical maintenance, repair, and installation duties at the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant and supporting pumping stations.
- Notifies supervision when additional assistance is needed.
- Uses a wide range of electrical test equipment to run safety checks and diagnose problems reading information off analog and digital displays to determine presence and strength of electrical current and other needed information.
- Installs new electrical systems often standing on step-ladders.
- Reads and interprets wiring diagrams, blueprints, electronic schematics, and other diagrams.
- Prepares daily reports on maintenance activities.
- Inspects, maintains, calibrates, and repairs ultra-violet disinfection systems.
- Operates a wide range of tools and equipment.
- Operates and performs work from an aerial platform.
- Completes research and provides price quotes for maintenance parts and repair cost.
- Provides necessary oversight to subordinates assisting in electrical work. Ensures all safety precautions are followed.
- Prepare daily reports on maintenance activities.
- Drives a pick-up truck and other vehicles as assigned.Â
