The Public Service Division with the City of Lansing is seeking a Business Manager to bring exceptional skills and abilities that will contribute to the success of their team. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who enjoys providing administrative support in an energetic environment. The City of Lansing offers a competitive wage and benefit package including paid vacation, sick and holiday leave.IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or a related field. Five (5) years of progressively responsible full-time experience in business operations and/or financial analysis. Government enterprise fund, private sector or comparable experience preferred. Two (2) years of experience in a management, supervisory or leadership capacity ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS INLCUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Serves as the business manager for the Public Service Department. Acts on behalf of the Director and Deputy Director in coordinating business and operational process improvements, gathering information, and problem solving with the Department’s six division managers.Oversees development of the department budget and prepares business and financial plans for enterprise (Trash, Yard Waste/Recycling, Sanitary Sewer) and internal service (Fleet, Property Management and Engineering) funds of the departmentCoordinates Department’s annual financial audit with Finance DepartmentEnsures compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements including grant financial reporting and compliance.Supervises Administrative Assistant.
