The position of firefighter is a highly visible position within the community served and possession of a strong moral character is required. The City of Lansing Fire Department is a non-transport, otherwise full-service fire department responding to all types of emergencies. A twenty-four-hour work period is utilized based upon the Berkeley schedule: 24 on 24 off, 24 on 24 off, 24 on 96 off.
