What are the responsibilities and job description for the P/T Parking Services Ambassador 200 position at City of Lansing?
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING:
Schedules do vary from day-to-day Monday through Sunday for Part-time Parking Services Ambassador. Part-time Parking Services Ambassador work a variety of hours, mostly 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, 4:30 pm to 8 pm (during the baseball season), and you will be required to work weekends (Saturday & Sunday) from as early as 6 am to midnight (you will be scheduled 3-to-4-hour shifts) and holidays.
This position requires that the applicant be able to be bonded under the terms of the City’s blanket bond. Therefore, applicants must not have committed any dishonest acts, before, or after, placement in this position. Applicants must authorize the release of any information from the appropriate agencies regarding the applicants’ criminal history.IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
- High School Diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Previous customer service and janitorial experience preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS INLCUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Janitorial duties consist of picking trash, emptying the trash cans in ramps/lots, wiping down handrails in the stairwells, wiping down the PARCS equipment in ramps/lots, cleaning elevators, cleaning windows, sweeping, and picking lots. This could also include power washing stairwells, lobbies, and mopping out elevators.
- Performs snow and ice removal operations using a shovel and throwing salt by and in areas that need it.
- Open up the ticket dispensers (entrance/exit) and fix a jammed ticket, change out the paper roll, clean out the ticket bin and/or reboot the machine. Securing the machine by locking when task is completed.
- Inform and educate the public on parking regulations and provide them with alternative parking solutions.
- Requires extensive walking to each parking meter(s) and collect revenue from that meter or something similar.
- May be required to either carry a sign-a-cade(s), reservation panels or roll a sign weighing up to approximately fifty (50) lbs. to block access to the ramp/lot.
- May be required to collect parking fees from parking patrons (cash or using an IPHONE to take a mobile credit card payments) with constant excessive standing in a surface lot. When the lot fills you will be required to redirect traffic to other locations that have available parking or as directed by a supervisor.
