The City of Lansing is seeking an Parts Supervisor for the Fleet Services Division of the Public Service Department. This role oversees vehicle and equipment maintenance, including police, fire, and construction fleets. Responsibilities include supervising daily operations, ensuring policy compliance, optimizing shop performance, and enforcing preventive maintenance programs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING:
- Must be able to work on-call if required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must pass LEIN/Law Enforcement Information Network (Fingerprinting)
May require overtime or shift work for emergencies and/or other work assignments.
May require shift changes.
- High School Diploma or GED; And
- Five (5) years of experience performing automotive or heavy equipment parts room inventory, stock, supply room operations; And
- Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory position. Supervisory experience must include fleet service-oriented experience.
- ASE Parts Specialist Certification P1, P2 & P4 certification preferred.
- Must complete Industrial Truck Training
- Must complete Confined Space Training
- Must complete Blood Born Pathogens Training
- Must participate in a Hepatitis B inoculation program at the City’s expense
- Oversee / supervises 2 storekeeper positions regularly.
- Invoice and credit card transaction reconciliation
- Parts organization, location and arrangement
- Building and maintaining parts information database in Collective Data (fleet management software).
- Making sure invoices are paid with venders that can’t automatically bill our credit card whether payment is made online or over the phone.
- Deciding on what and how much inventory to stock.
- Creating procedures and making sure they are getting implemented correctly.
- Fiscal yearend inventory count
- Supervise and coordinates activities of multiple worker engaged in a wide range or repairs and maintenance
to specialty equipment, automobiles, small equipment and heavy equipment for all the city of lansing Dept - Researching part costs and quality to determine the best vendors to buy from
- Maintaining parts vendor list.
- Setting up accounts with vendors whether its online or over the phone. Including filling tax exempt forms.
- Finding and correcting when charged taxes.
- Coordinating parts deliveries and pick-ups
