EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The City of Lansing reserves the right to utilize equivalencies where deemed appropriate with regard to education and experience requirements.
- Associate degree or 2 years of college in social work, social services, community engagement, teaching, coaching, data analytics, business administration, public health or a related field.
- AND One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in Gun Violence Intervention and Community Based Organization.
- Work requires the occasional work direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
- OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Most possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the individual through assistance or on their own to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, handle, grasp, finger dexterity, sit, talk, hear, and visual acuity.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Office environment
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Office of Violence Prevention and local communities’ organizations across the region and state that are already engaged in or are looking to initiate community and firearm violence prevention initiatives.
- Transform data into quantitative and qualitative reports, public dashboard information, geospatial analytics, data visualization, storytelling, research and policy reviews that inform Office of Violence Prevention’s and partner agency planning and operations.
- Develop and build relationships with Gun Violence Intervention Community Based Organizations throughout the Lansing region.
- Main point of contact for Gun Violence Prevention and Intervention work through the City of Lansing.
- Research policy, regulation, and laws and track changes over time at all levels of government and present recommendations and/or findings regarding impact to operations to leadership.
- Grant identification and management.
- Violence Prevention Community Outreach.
- Other duties as assigned

Salary : $58,000 - $86,618
