Provides technical and administrative support for engineering activities, including storm water management, capital improvement projects and mapping. Performs office and field work related to engineering projects, storm drainage systems, and public engagement. Collaborates with multiple departments and the public to ensure accurate data management and regulatory compliance and efficient use of the City’s Enterprise Permitting and Licensing (EP&L) software.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists City staff and the general public with research and information related to City maps, plans, permits, projects and engineering data.
- Update maps, technical drawings, and exhibits for City projects.
- Collaborate with Engineering Staff on City mapping and to validate and maintain accurate impervious area data to support the surface water drainage fee and management processes.
- Assist with public outreach initiatives to educate residents and businesses about surface water drainage management program, credit programs and other public works programs.
- Conduct property inspections related to surface water drainage credits and public works infrastructure.
- Review and inspect the design and construction of storm water infrastructure and other public works infrastructure.
- Collect field data on storm water systems and city infrastructure using GPS, drones, and surveying tools.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding impervious area calculations and related ordinances.
- Perform data analysis and technical drafting.
QUALIFICATIONS: (A combination of the following experience and training, or the equivalent of, would be qualifying):
- Experience operating Microsoft Office Products.
- Two years of related experience in public works, stormwater management, or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of storm water management and public works practices and regulatory requirements.
- College level coursework and/or professional training in Engineering or related field.
- Experience with GIS, Civil 3D, GPS, drones, and survey tools for data collection or similar software and tools.
