Ideal candidates will enjoy working outdoors and are highly motivated and eager to serve the community on a team that protects the environment through recycling and proper waste disposal.
This entry level position performs litter collection both on-site and off-site at the landfill/recycling center, repairs and maintains fences and other structures, handles and packages materials for treatment and shipment associated with Household Hazardous Waste, E-Waste and other diversion programs.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform litter collection at and around the landfill.
- Use hand tools as required.
- Observe safety in all phases of operation.
- Perform scale house duties.
- Maintain simple records and logs.
- Repair, construct and maintain litter collection fences.
- Assist Solid Waste Collection Crews.
- Process and package materials for recycling & diversion programs.
- Assist with the composting program.
QUALIFICATIONS (A combination of the following experience and training, or the equivalent of, would be qualifying):
- Experience performing manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
- Possession of valid driver license.
- Ability to work overtime and some Saturdays.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
S PECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 75 pounds; exposure to cold, heat, noise, dust, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, mechanical hazards, ability to travel to different sites and locations.
