Job Description
General Summary
Maintains wastewater collection system in a good working condition including pipe repairs and manhole rehabilitation.
Essential Functions / Job Competencies / Physical Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Enters confined spaces with respiratory equipment to make repairs.
Checks and assesses conditions of manholes.
Checks safety conditions within the work place.
Helps with traffic control when required.
Takes part in a crew that repairs manholes with concrete and epoxy.
Assists in the installation of pipe patches.
Helps with smoke testing of sewer lines.
Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts.
Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications.
Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of safety procedures.
Knowledge of plumbing and mechanical equipment repair.
Ability to use gasoline and electrical powered hand tools.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical equipment maintenance manuals.
Ability to use basic computer skills.
Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established polices and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
At least one (1) year of general work experience. Experience in construction, plumbing or mechanical maintenance / repair is preferred.
