This position is responsible for overseeing, managing, and maintaining the database systems used by the IST MIS division for the City of Laredo. This includes monitoring and tracking incoming requests for MIS data integration, open records, and all associated application support. It also requires the entry of daily requisitions, the processing of invoices, responding to all business-related requests, and providing management with weekly activity reports. - Responsible for managing and maintaining the integrity of IBM Power Systems Platform data, including all upgrades and implementations for all business application modules and operating systems data, as well as its associated applications.
- Develops, coordinates, and implements development solutions for any City of Laredo department.
- Maintains communication with City of Laredo departments and vendors regarding the status of data projects or implementations, resolution of issues, and projected completion dates.
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of IBM system database security, application security, custom programming, design and development of custom reports, technical support, training, and general assistance.
- Responsible for leading the MIS team in the management of database systems the interface with government business applications.
- Responsible for database administration and operations, database and associated application upgrades, and system compatibility with multiple database models or structures.
- Responsible for managing IBM Database Platform systems and associated application interfaces.
- Responsibilities include IBM database importation and export operations, implementation or new data platforms across multiple OS platforms, and migrating legacy data models to current standards.
- Develops, processes, and reviews data content supplied and received from different payment and operational systems.
- Provides senior level database support to all City departments, and MIS staff (MIS Applications Analysts I and II, and computer operators).
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs related work as required.
