ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff. Supervisory functions include: makes hiring and termination decisions; prioritizes assignments and directs work; develops and oversees employee work schedules and approves time away from work; provides and/or facilitates employee training and development; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; completes employee performance appraisals; determines or makes recommendations regarding new hire salaries and salary changes; and acts as liaison between employees and management
Coordinates and oversees the WIC (Women, Infant and Children) clinical functions and activities in accordance with the State requirements
Establishes and maintains relationships with the community through outreach and service
Determines applicant eligibility and provides nutrition education and counseling to participants; assigns nutritional risks, prescribes supplemental foods, and approves formulas
- Provides low to moderate risk nutrition and breastfeeding counseling; provides referrals (as needed) and support for WIC recipients
- Prepares and submits a variety of reports, including quality assurance and auditing reports.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs related work as required

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited* college or university in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Home Economics with twelve (12) semester hours in foods and nutrition

Proof of TB Test/Screening will be required to be presented prior to employment
Required License or Certifications
Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
Desired Licenses or Certifications
- Registered Dietitian License is desirable.
