Job Summary:
We are looking for a customer service-oriented Pro Shop Clerk to join our team! This specialized position involves cash register operations, financial transactions, and merchandising while providing a welcoming experience for golfers. The role is responsible for collecting greens fees, assisting guests, and ensuring smooth closing operations.Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist customers with golf course check-in and payments.
Operate a cash register to process greens fees and other transactions accurately.
Assist with merchandising, including stocking and organizing golf-related products.
Answer customer inquiries about course policies, fees, and merchandise.
Ensure a smooth closing process, securing transactions and preparing reports as needed.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Previous cash handling and customer service experience.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
Ability to work independently and effectively during closing shifts.
Friendly and professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
Basic knowledge of golf is a plus!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management
- Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities
- Follows suggested procedures to assure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety and risk avoidance
Technical
- Prepares cash drawer and register for daily business; checks and installs tape in register; takes cash; runs the closing tapes on cash registers and places money in the safes
- Writes cart tickets; issues fee and cart tickets
- Takes starting times reservations
- Makes up bank deposit slips and recapitulation sheets
- Answers questions made by telephone or in person from the public regarding facility, fee schedules and general information relevant to golf course
- Frequently locks premises after day's play; sets burglar alarm
- Helps Starter with golf carts if necessary
- Sells Pro Shop merchandise; keeps running inventory of daily merchandise sales, recommends needed purchases to Golf Course Manager
- Keeps records of lockers for members
- Keeps general area clean

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) and six months experience in pro shop and golf course operations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Valid Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of cash register and accounting systems
- Knowledge of pro shop operation and inventory
- Ability to work with public
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment: 95% inside a climate controlled building; 5% outside which may include driving.
Physical Requirements: The essential functions of the job require: sitting approximately three (3) hours per day, standing approximately three (3) hours per day, and walking approximately two (2) hours per day. The work rarely requires: bending/stooping, climbing, crawling, fine manipulations, grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 15 pounds, lifting/carrying of objects weighing 15 to 44 pounds.
Sensory Requirements: Hearing: Ability to understand what others are saying in normal conversation in person and on the telephone. Speaking: Ability to communicate orally with others in person and on the telephone. Seeing: Ability to see and read computer monitor screens and operate cash registers.
Driving Requirements: Requires occasional driving and possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Office Machines: The work requires the ability to operate the following office machines: cash registers and calculators.
Other Machines: The work requires the ability to operate the following machines: golf carts
