ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management
- Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities
- Follows suggested procedures to ensure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety, and risk avoidance
Technical
- Greets patrons, ensuring they have paid the appropriate fee and that they have a safe and enjoyable experience
- Develops and maintains a professional relationship with patrons by providing personal attention throughout their visit
- Ensures that safety measures are observed; responds to emergencies as required and maintains accurate accident and incident reports
- Keeps storage areas clean and orderly; moves broken equipment to storage areas until repaired; communicates equipment needs to supervisor
- Remains familiar with current facility programs and maintains copies of communication and marketing material
- Reports all maintenance issues immediately to the supervisor and assists with minor repairs or preventive maintenance on equipment; daily maintenance of the facility is required; wiping down and sanitizing equipment continuously
Facility
- Answers questions about fitness equipment, fitness programs, fitness memberships, and personal training opportunities
- Provides instruction to patrons on the proper use of all equipment in the facility and may conduct orientation sessions for new users; monitors the fitness center to ensure a smooth flow for patrons throughout their workouts; monitors all cardio equipment for time limits, especially if there is a waiting list
- Oversees and monitors the fitness center, gymnasium, functional training room, walking track, restrooms, classrooms, and second-floor activity
- Assists with set-up and tear-down of activity areas and classrooms; monitors restrooms for cleanliness, graffiti, and vandalism
Party
- Before each event, complete a walk-through and visual inspection of the playground, pool, outdoor shelter, and party room for safety hazards, trash removal, cleaning or sanitizing equipment
- Provides direction to children on the proper and safe use of the structure and pool amenities; monitors the age-appropriate areas of the structure and pool amenities and ensures compliance; ensures that all children are wearing socks when using the indoor playground; makes visual counts of children on the different levels of the playground structure and pool amenities to monitor safe play and appropriate behavior
- May need to communicate with parents if a child is not following the rules of the playground and pool amenities
- Provides customer service and hospitality to parties at the facility and pool; tasks will include issuing wristbands, decorating, serving food, and contract details
Snack Bar
- Provides front-line customer service to patrons
- May assist with crowd control and enforcing facility rules and policies
- Completes opening and closing checklist at the beginning and end of each shift
- Follows cleaning checklist daily as assigned for equipment, sweeping, cleaning of tables and chairs in the patron area, and daily trash removal
- Correctly operates all equipment; maintains cleanliness of all food handling areas and follows food handling procedures
- Assists with inventory control duties such as completing inventory sheets and restocking merchandise
Van Driver
- Drives registered participants to and from trip destinations
- Assists participants on and off the van
- Using the provided roster ensures that only registered participants attend the trip
- Provides customer service to participants while on the trip
Team Skills
- Supports honest and transparent decision-making
- Collaborates with all team members in a way that builds upon ideas and takes personal accountability and ownership of projects, roles, and assignments
- Openly exhibits a positive attitude, in words and action, and encourages others to do the same

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) first aid is required within six months; training is provided
Facility
- Experience working in a recreation or fitness facility preferred
Party
- Experience in a recreation setting, customer service, or childcare programs preferred
Snack Bar
- Experience working with the public or in a food handling position preferred
- Florida Department of Health Safe Food Handling Training preferred; training is provided
Van Driver
- Valid Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment: 90% indoors and 10% outdoors, which may include driving.
Physical Requirements: Requires a considerable amount of walking around, standing for long periods, bending, crouching, stooping, lifting, and carrying supplies and equipment. May be required to set up or move tables and chairs as part of daily cleaning or special event set up.
Sensory Requirements: Ability to talk and listen to patron requests. Ability to use hands to prepare food or operate equipment. Hand-eye coordination to operate the cash system, handle money, and make change. Good vision is necessary to operate equipment, and must be able to adjust focus.
Driving: Van Driver requires occasional driving and a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Technology: Point of Service Equipment, computer, printer, phones, and snack bar equipment.
