Job Summary : Join the Largo Public Library as a Library Security Guard! This specialized role involves monitoring activities inside and around the library, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Schedule : Must have Flexibility - 5 days a week
Education : High School Diploma / GED (some college preferred)
Requirements :
- Valid Florida Driver’s License (or transferable within 30 days)
- Knowledge of Florida laws, City ordinances, and Pinellas County codes
- Strong observational and communication skills
- Ability to establish positive relationships with staff and the public

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS : As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and / or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment : 60% inside a climate controlled building; 40% outside which may include driving. This position requires extensive walking through both the interior and exterior of the building for up to 75% of their assigned shift.
Physical Requirements : The essential functions of the job require : frequent standing, occasional bending / stooping, kneeling, reaching, sitting, pushing, and occasional lifting / carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Sensory Requirements : Hearing : Ability to understand what others are saying in normal conversation in person and on the telephone. Speaking : Ability to communicate orally with others in person and on the telephone, and to be able to acknowledge instructions. Seeing : Ability to operate a vehicle, and read fine print.
Driving Requirements : Requires occasional driving and possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Technology : The work requires ability to operate telephones, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and / or laptop computers, calculators, camera security system and all associated software.
