Summary Of Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The person in this position is responsible for assisting in the supervision of children attending the City of Laurel Summer Camp alongside our Day Camp Counselors and Day Camp Directors. Junior Counselors will also assist in the development of weekly group activity schedules and lead a variety of recreational activities for campers with priority in their safety. Day Camp Counselors are expected to mentor Junior Counselors throughout the summer so they can develop childcare knowledge specific to a summer camp setting.

Essential Job Functions
- Communicates with co-workers and supervisor(s) about incidents involving children's safety concerns, behavioral needs, or other issues.
- Participates and encourages participation of all campers in daily activities and events.
- Assists with group supervision and all-camp activities under the supervision of Day Camp Counselors and Directors.
- Provides assistance with set-up and breakdown of camp activities.
- Willingly and cooperatively accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certificates preferred. CPR/AED/First Aid course will be offered to hired applicants. All new hires must be CPR/AED/First Aid certified before the start of camp.
- Successful completion of criminal background check and Child Abuse & Neglect screening.
- Minimum age requirement is 16 years old and completed 10th grade by start of employment. Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Hours may vary. Must be available for mandatory training and available to work the entire duration of day camp program.
