Salary/Wage Range: $15.82 - $20.42 based on experience

Under direct supervision of the Electric Manager, Public Works & Facilities Manager, Recreation Manager, or Water/Wastewater Manager/Supervisor, the Public Services Seasonal Laborer performs routine unskilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance of parks, lawns, grounds, and recreation areas; cleans and maintains equipment and facilities, and other related functions as assigned or apparent.

Essential Functions of the Job:
- Operates power mowers or small tractors with attached mowers to cut grass on fields, expressways, courts, streets, parkways, and other grounds and facilities.
- Plants, transplants, and trims trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Drags and marks athletic fields and courts, installs and maintains athletic field equipment.
- Cleans restrooms, picnic pavilions, facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
- Operates tractors, pick-up trucks, brush chippers, chain saws, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and other power-driven equipment and tools.
- Performs other manual labor, such as digging ditches, mixing cement, vacuuming and brushing outdoor pool walls and floor and cleaning trash from streets and grounds.
- Assists in weed inspection and abatement.
- Supports special events.
- Assists in locating utilities, jetting and maintenance of storm and sanitary sewer and painting hydrants.
- Performs physical demands and work environment requirements for this position.
- Attends regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Effectively and respectfully communicates and interacts with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
- Performs other related functions as assigned or apparent to achieve the goals and objectives of the Public Services Department.

This position utilizes a wide variety of motorized and electric hand tools and equipment as well as vehicles including:
- Small hand tools
- Floor scrubber
- Mops and brooms
- Vacuum
- Mowers and weed whips
- Trimmers
- Pickups
- Blower
- UTV
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a related position.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within thirty days of employment with the City.
- Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background examination.
- Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.
Work Schedule:
The typical schedule will be 7:00am - 4:00pm Monday – Thursday and 7:00am - 1:30pm on Friday. Weekends as necessary 8:00am - 12:00pm.

This position requires the employee to work alone, with others, around others and have contact with the public. This position will work inside, outside, in confined spaces, and on uneven ground. This position may be exposed to the following: dust, dirt, fumes, gases, chemicals and other substances, noise, pressurized equipment, moving objects, heat, extreme heat, cold, extreme cold, wetness, humidity, and marked changes in wetness/humidity. Activities that will occur continuously, more than 7 hours, are: hearing. Activities that will occur frequently, 4 to 7 hours, are: standing, seeing with near and far vision. Activities that occur occasionally, 1 to 3 hours, are: sitting, walking, bending/stooping, squatting, kneeling, pushing, handling, use of feet/foot for repetitive movements, use of right foot, left foot, and both feet at the same time, talking, seeing with depth perception, and carrying and lifting up to 24 pounds. Activities that occur infrequently, up to 60 minutes, are: crawling; crouching, pulling, twisting, climbing staircases and heights, reaching at, above, and below shoulder level with the right shoulder, left shoulder and both shoulders at the same time, fine manipulating; sense of touch, seeing with accommodation, color vision, and field of vision/peripheral vision, and carrying and lifting up to 75 lbs. This position will require the ability to drive a vehicle.
