Job Description
Assists with providing services to teens, ages 12-18, through program planning and implementation, reference instruction and searches, and readers’ advisory. This is a seasonal position for the summer.

- Assists with planning, preparation, and hosting programs of special interest to teens
- Maintains Summer Reading Challenge prize distribution and assists patrons with Beanstack usage
- Updates the Teen Services Department’s digital reading lists
- Attends and assists with outreach events
- Provides readers’ advisory to teens and adults
- Assists patrons of all ages in obtaining information from library resources
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week
- Must be available to work days and early evenings
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Professional experience working with teens, ages 12-18, required (please detail your specific professional experience in your application)
- Public library experience preferred
- Any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities will be considered.

- Knowledge of teen interests, literature, and trends.
- Ability to navigate the library catalog, library calendars, SirsiDynix, and other platforms or willingness to expand skill set to keep current with advances in technology.
- Ability to communicate clearly, interact with the public effectively, and speak in front of groups.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
- Skills in customer service and ability to adapt/respond to different types of people.
- Skills in Internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and Canva.
