Responsibilities:All Positions:
- Install, maintain, and repair traffic control devices, including street signs, stop signs, and pavement markings, to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
- Maintain job sites by clearing debris and following safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist in setting up traffic control for work zones and special events.
- Participate in after-hours and weekend callouts as needed to address urgent situations.
Maintenance Worker:
- Support general maintenance activities related to traffic control devices and perform basic site cleanup tasks.
- Follow safety regulations to ensure proper handling of equipment and tools.
Equipment Operator:
- Operate a range of machinery and hand tools, including dump trucks, boom mowers, skid steers, and other equipment, excluding heavy construction equipment.
- Conduct general maintenance task such as concrete work, cleaning culverts, checking storm sewers, mowing, tree trimming, and tree removals.
- Perform routine inspections and upkeep of vehicles and equipment.
Public Service Technician:
- Use light to heavy construction equipment, including Vactor vehicles, to maintain green spaces and ensure ditches and culverts are free of grass, debris, and blockages.
- Operate specialized equipment like boom mowers and crane trucks for debris removal.
- Clean and maintain drainage systems using vac-rodder equipment.
- Performs maintenance tasks to include lawn mowing and trimming, tree trimming and removal.
Public Service Technician II:
- Perform all duties of a Public Service Technician with additional responsibility for operating and transporting oversize equipment, such as excavators, using haul trucks.
- Manage more complex equipment operations for large-scale maintenance tasks.

- High school diploma or GED (required for all positions).
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- No experience required.
- Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- 1 year of experience in streets, stormwater, traffic, landscape, or construction fields.
- Texas Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement.
- 1 year of experience in equipment operations and the streets, stormwater, traffic, landscape, or construction fields.
- Texas Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement.
- 2 years of experience in equipment operations and the streets, stormwater, traffic, landscape, or construction fields.
- Traffic safety regulations, work zone setup, and drainage systems.
- Operation, maintenance, and safety protocols for a variety of equipment and machinery, from small tools to heavy construction equipment.
- Techniques for maintaining Right of Ways, Drainage Easements, and Culverts.
- Techniques for Tree trimming and removal.
Skilled in:
- Operating vehicles and equipment such as dump trucks, boom mowers, bucket trucks, skid steers, tractors, and Vactor Trucks.
- Performing routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on equipment.
- Managing traffic control and ensuring safety in work zones.
- Accurately completing daily work reports and documentation.
Ability to:
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Safely operate heavy equipment, including transporting oversize loads and handling advanced machinery like excavators (specific to Public Service Technician 2).
- Respond effectively to after-hours callouts and emergency situations.
