The Water Operator I / II is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of ground equipment, and buildings at the Water Production facilities. Duties involve tasks like flushing dead-end mains and keeping hydrants in good condition. This is a safety-sensitive and/or DOT position. Therefore, participation in random drug testing at the city will be mandatory.

Water Operator IPrepare stations for inspection by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality by performing general maintenance, including painting, pressure washing, fixing barbed fences, and clearing debris from fence lines. Assist in cleaning all Elevated and Ground Storage Tanks.Checks the pressure, tank levels, chlorine residual, and ammonia levels.Assist with the collection of samples, monitoring various equipment, and documenting pump hours. Maintain and clean assigned facilities. Flush water distribution system to ensure the CL2 residuals are adequate and record water loss data.Assist with new water line construction process by filling and flushing of new water mains. Maintain fire hydrants, sample station and auto flushers within the city by mowing and paint fire hydrants as needed. Perform all other duties as assigned.
