Finance Manager
The Finance Manager supports the Finance Director and Assistant Finance Director in ensuring compliance with applicable standards and laws of municipal finance while contributing to the City’s financial success. In this pivotal role, you will assist the department in strategizing delivery methods and assessing financial and performance outcomes. Your expertise will help drive operational efficiency and effectiveness, supporting the City’s mission to serve the Leawood community to the best of our abilities.

Your work responsibilities may include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and financial reporting.
- Administering the City's financial software and coordinating with IT on system authorizations and workflows.
- Overseeing the preparation of the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and annual audit.
- Serving as Deputy City Treasurer, managing banking relationships and investment activities.
- Collaborating on the City’s annual operating budget and Capital Improvement Plan.
- Develop policies to improve operational controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and GFOA standards.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a diverse team of finance professionals.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. At least six years of progressive accounting experience, including two years in a supervisory role, preferably in municipal finance. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: CPA, CGFM, CPFO or advanced degree (MBA/MPA) and experience with financial reporting in a government setting.
