The City of Lebanon is looking for an Inspector II to be part of a dedicated team making our community safer and more vibrant!
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough on-site inspections of construction, renovation, and existing residential properties.
- Ensure adherence to building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards, including structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Review plans, specifications, and permits for compliance with the International Residential Code (IRC) and local ordinances.
- Investigate unpermitted work, report hazardous conditions, and issue violation notices.
- Work closely with contractors, architects, and homeowners to resolve code-related issues and provide expert guidance.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, including inspections, permit details, and violation reports.
Licensing/Certification:
Valid Driver's License
- Condition of Employment: One (1) of the following Certifications MUST be obtained by an employee within the designated timeframes: (Within one (1) year)
- International Code Council (ICC) - B-1 - Residential Building Inspector Certification
- ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector - #64 - Certification
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years of related experience OR an Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant work in code enforcement or construction.
- Strong knowledge of the International Codes (ICC), construction methods, and building safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, from contractors to homeowners.
- Ability to interpret construction plans and ensure compliance with local and national building codes.
