The City of Lenexa’s Parks and Recreation Department is looking for dynamic leaders who love working with kids and inspiring fun, creativity, and learning to join our team as Head Camp Counselors for the summer of 2025.
Position Summary :
The Head Camp Counselor oversees and leads daily activities at our camp. In this role, you’ll work with campers of all ages and skill levels while fostering a positive and engaging environment. Join our team and play a key role in creating unforgettable experiences for our campers!
Key Responsibilities :
- Organize and lead children in various activities.
- Foster healthy and positive relationships with children and youth.
- Document and report incidents or disturbances to camp directors.
- Supervise and provide direction to Camp Counselors and campers throughout the day.
- Communicate effectively with campers, staff, and parents.
- Ensure the health and well-being of participants, adhering to all safety and emergency procedures.
- Model professionalism and a positive attitude at all times.
- Assist with participant check-in and check-out.
- Maintain and clean program areas after use.
- Support special events by hosting booths or leading activities.
Qualifications :
The rate of pay is $16.50 per hour.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screen and a comprehensive fingerprint-based background check, as required by the state of Kansas. An additional standard background check is required for applicants aged 18 or older.
