The City of Lenexa is currently accepting applications for outdoor Head Lifeguards. This role is a great opportunity to gain customer service and teamwork skills while serving the community at one of our three facilities:
- Flat Rock Creek: 13120 W. 103rd St.
- Lenexa Rec Center: 17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy
- Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center: 8801 Greenway Ln
Schedule:
This position requires weekday, weekend, and holiday availability. Applicants will provide their availability (specific days and hours) during the application process, which will be reviewed as part of the hiring decision.
Position Summary:
The Head Lifeguard oversees the daily operation of the City’s outdoor swimming pools, including preparation, daily operation, and seasonal closure. This role is responsible for supervising and training lifeguards, ensuring safety protocols are followed, conducting maintenance checks, and maintaining accurate records.
Qualifications:
- Minimum:
- Must be at least 17 years old with 2 years of lifeguard experience, including swim lesson instruction.
- Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory credit history required.
- Preferred:
- Swim lesson instructor experience.
- Lifeguard Instructor, Waterpark Instructor, or Water Safety Instructor certifications.
Starting rate of pay is $16.50 per hour with annual raises.
Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 and older.
