The work level and hourly rate are contingent upon experience and qualifications as Utility Plant Operator I. This position performs semi-skilled work in operating and maintaining a Water Treatment Plant.

Minimum Qualifications for Water Plant Operator I
- Graduation from high school or equivalent;
- Driver’s license valid in NC and good driving record;
- Ability to work regularly;
- Achievement of a Grade C water treatment operator’s license (Water Plant Operator) or Grade I wastewater treatment operator’s license (Waste Plant Operator) within 18 months.
Minimum Qualifications for Water Plant Operator II
- Graduation from high school or equivalent;
- Demonstrable skills equivalent to two years’ experience operating a water or wastewater treatment plant;;
- Driver’s license valid in NC and good driving record;
- Ability to work regularly;
- Possession of a Grade C water treatment operator’s license (Water Plant Operator) or Grade II wastewater treatment operator’s license (Waste Plant Operator).
Minimum Qualifications for Water Plant Operator III
- Graduation from high school or equivalent;
- Driver’s license valid in NC and good driving record;
- Demonstrable skills equivalent to three years’ experience in operating a water or wastewater treatment plant;
- Ability to work regularly;
- Possession of a Grade B water treatment operator’s license (Water Plant Operator) or Grade IV wastewater treatment operator’s license (Waste Plant Operator).
Work Schedule
On-Call rotation, Rotating shift pattern. Paid bi-weekly.
Night Shift 7pm - 7am
